A Work Permit, sometimes known as a Work Visa, is a document that allows qualifying foreign nationals to work in Hungary for a set length of time.
To live and work in Hungary, all non-EU citizens require a work visa or work permit. Unlike countries of Western Europe like Germany or UK, it is relatively easy to be employed as a non-EU citizen in Hungary.
You'll need a letter of invitation that details your business relationship and what you'll be doing while you're there. If you are an employee, send paperwork from your employer confirming your employment status as well as details about your work. Your job title, dates of employment, income, and why you need to travel for business should all be included. Obtaining a no objection letter from your employer in your native country may also be beneficial.
Requirements for obtaining a work permit in Hungary
After completing a number of conditions, you must get work permit.
1. post the position for 15 days in the Hungarian Labor Office to allow unemployed Hungarians to apply.
2. Visit the regional branch of the labour centre and file a valid manpower request
Foreign employee quotas exist in Hungary, and your total number of work permits for foreigners cannot exceed the average number of workers requested by businesses over the previous year.
You can then proceed with the general or streamlined approach. Within 10 to 30 days of your application, the labour centre will make a final determination on whether you can obtain a work visa. You'll receive a resolution after it's been authorized.
Work permit duration
A work permit is valid for two years, whereas a visa is only valid for one year. Non-EU and non-EEA nationals can apply for an EU Blue Card, which serves as a work and residency permit for highly qualified non-EU workers who want to work and live in the EU.
